About the Program
The UFSC Graduate Program in Medical Sciences (PPGCM) was created in 2007 with the mission to prepare highly qualified professionals to produce innovative research that advances scientific knowledge in the area of Medical Sciences. It also seeks to develop in its students a critical awareness about research in Medical Sciences, considering its theories, methods, applicability and limitations.
The PPGCM offers Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs for physicians and health professionals who wish to get involved with clinical or experimental research and with education in their areas of expertise. It also offers postdoctoral research positions.
Currently, the Program has 14 permanent faculty members and 3 collaborating members – all graduated from the best national and international institutions – working on 8 laboratories, 3 teaching hospitals and 2 major areas of research concentration.
The permanent members of the program develop intense research activities, producing a great amount of scientific articles published in highly rated journals in Brazil and abroad.
The PPGCM has obtained grade 4 (out of 7) in the last evaluation by CAPES, the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel.
